Automatic control system for preparation of spent fuel casks for dry storage is used to manage the equipment responsible for such processes as drying, leakage monitoring, and inert gas filling of UKH-109 reinforced concrete casks with RBMK spent fuel.
The system is developed on the basis of advanced software/hardware and includes:
- automated operator’s work station;
- control cabinet;
- local control panel.
Automated operator’s work station is essentially a touch-screen PC used for manual process control, automatic control mode setting, and data logging and reporting monitoring. Equipment malfunctions, process failures, equipment maintenance and certification needs are communicated to the operator via displayed messages.
The system is intended to handle the reinforced-concrete and metal package sets that are compatible with UKH-109 and other containers.
The advantage of the system is almost full process automation.
Since the spent fuel storage facilities are different in design, the decision on equipment configuration is made individually for each storage facility.
