Training simulators

FSUE «Alexandrov NITI» has a more than 50 year experience in development of modeling systems for calculation of dynamic parameters of nuclear power installations (NPI). About 40 training simulators and modeling systems were developed for this period. The full-scale simulation models that describe all transient processes occurring in the nuclear power installations are the most important and demanding part of these integrated systems.

The integrated real-time models are intended for development of training equipment (simulators) for operating personnel and field testing of hardware and software control systems of NPI.

The recent products developed by NITI and supplied to the Customer are a full-scale test facility and a functional simulator for the Project 22220 nuclear icebreaker, namely, for its onboard nuclear power plant consisting of two RITM-200 pressurized water reactors. For the two-reactor plant of the Project 22220 nuclear icebreaker a mathematical model was developed simulating the plant under normal operating and accident conditions.

The integrated model of the onboard nuclear power plant includes a propulsion system model that allows for simulating the dynamics of the nuclear icebreaker accounting for all the physical processes occurring in the icebreaker under varying environmental conditions (ice thickness, sea disturbance (in points), sea depth, icebreaker draft, air and water temperature).

The Maritime Arctic Competence Center was established at the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping for training the operating personnel of FSUE Atomflot using a full-scale test facility and a functional simulator developed for the Project 22220 nuclear icebreaker.

The other similar project is development of a full-scale test facility and a functional simulator for the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power station.

NITI’s vast experience and a large team of highly professional specialists in the field of dynamics, physics, thermal physics, NPI control systems, and software development are a base for successful fulfillment of such tasks as development, manufacturing, and complete shipment of full-scale test facilities and functional simulators for nuclear propulsion plants, NPPs, and research reactors.
